Blogging on a UNIX box= Bleh
Published on October 23, 2004 By SSG Geezer In Misc
Well, I am back to give all of you lovely, and not so lovely folks another peek into my boring but stess filled life.
Since my primary computer crapped out, I spent some time attempting to set my laptop up on the internet, this was
not very successful for a number of reasons.
A. about 4 weeks ago we had a thunderstorm that lit the skies for hours. During this storm my power supply decided that
it didn't appreciate the power surge it took. oops, it's dead. My Modem was squirrelly but functional but i found out that the
ethernet port took a hit also. so it will not work either. my upstairs neighbor got lucky when the storm just fried his modem.

b. I bought a new power supply at one of thise evil office supply chains, so I can use it but no internet available. $79.95 plus tax!

c. I tried to get my roomies UNIX box to log on but it wouldn't work until after 25 minutes on the phone with RR/TimeWarner
customer service. this is when I knew that my laptop was screwed and that this ancient UNIX box could see the NET,(after resets)
so I have at least minimal JU access. We shall see how the primary computer testing and repair goes over the next few hours and days.

I need to clean house today so it is time to listen to some Killer Guitarists, to keep the motivation level up.
So far it has been Robin Trower, Ben Harper, next Joe Satriani and ???

I saw SRV way back when he was still drinking. Still had great presence. I listen to Stevie but my favorite bluesmen are johnny Winter,
Albert Collins, My best Friend Ed O., and a whole lot of others. If you haven't seen Ben Harper on austin City limits or live anywhere,
do yourself a favor and be prepared to be blown away.

I'm with dharma on the Nirvana. Next to the Beatles, the greatest band ever.

TW, Ahhhh, No. Sorry not even close. I do like nirvana but prefer the Foo Fighters, or any of the bands listed above.
I also listen to a lot of punk, Irish punk, Metal, Old school hard (not lite) jazz, but not rap crap or country.

Good to see you among the living Geez....I was getting a bit worried!

Looks like we listen to a lot of the same music. If you're talking guitar...what about Buddy Guy?
